2026 Annual Retreat
April 29, 2026
“Ubicación: Locating Ourselves in a Time of Detention, Dissent, and Moral Discernment.”
Reflective Summary: A Call to Justice in a Time of Conscience
The SV Faith annual retreat provided a sacred space for prayer, reflection, and discernment rooted in interfaith solidarity and justice. Eleven faith leaders representing eight faith traditions and four ethnic groups gathered in community, bringing diverse spiritual perspectives into deep and respectful dialogue.
Through shared reflection and intentional listening, a common theme emerged: a growing clarity around our collective call to justice. This call became especially present as the group reflected on the moral and spiritual implications of current detention centers and the treatment of migrants and asylum seekers. Across traditions, participants affirmed the sacred dignity of every human life and named the tension between those core beliefs and the realities faced by detained individuals.
Rather than seeking quick solutions, the retreat emphasized communal discernment—holding grief, moral urgency, and hope together. In this space, neutrality gave way to conscience, and participants felt a shared responsibility to move toward accompaniment, advocacy, and faithful action.
The retreat closed with a sense of collective commitment: to continue standing together across difference, listening deeply, and responding courageously to the call for justice grounded in our shared values and faith.
